BREAKING: New sectional assignments released

The IHSAA released new sectional assignments for the 2019-20 school year for girls and boys soccer, football, volleyball, and girls and boys basketball on Monday. In girls soccer Southmont will participate in a Class A sectional with Cascade, Monrovia, North Putnam and South Vermillion. The Mounties have won two straight Class A sectional titles. In boys soccer Crawfordsville, North Montgomery and Southmont will participate in a Class 2A sectional with Danville, Frankfort, Greencastle and Tri-West. Crawfordsville is the last Montgomery County team to win a boys soccer sectional back in 2016. In volleyball, Fountain Central will play in a Class 2A sectional with Carroll (Flora), Clinton Prairie, Delphi, Lewis Cass, Rossville, and Seeger. Fountain Central last won a sectional in 1997. Southmont will play in a Class 2A sectional with Cascade, Cloverdale, North Putnam, Parke Heritage, Riverton Parke, and South Putnam. Southmont last won a sectional in 1993. Crawfordsville and North Montgomery will play in a Class 3A sectional with Benton Central, Frankfort, Twin Lakes, and West Lafayette. North Montgomery last won a sectional in 2010, while Crawfordsville hasn’t won one since 2007. In football Fountain Central will play in a Class A sectional with Cloverdale, Covington, North Vermillion, Parke Heritage, Riverton Parke, South Putnam, and Traders Point Academy. Fountain Central last won a sectional in 2017. Southmont will play in a Class 2A sectional with Cascade, Monrovia, North Putnam, Seeger, South Vermillion, Speedway, and Western Boone. Southmont has never won a football sectional. Crawfordsville and North Montgomery will play in a Class 3A sectional with Brebeuf Jesuit, Chatard, Guerin Catholic, Hamilton Heights, West Lafayette and Yorktown. North Montgomery last won a sectional in 2009, while Crawfordsville hasn’t won a sectional since 1989. This sectional configuration has combined for 10 trips to the state finals in the last 10 years, producing six Class 3A state champions in that timespan. In girls basketball Fountain Central will play in a Class 2A sectional with Clinton Prairie, Rossville, Seeger and Sheridan. Fountain Central last won a sectional in 2015. Southmont will play in a Class 2A sectional with Cloverdale, North Putnam, Parke Heritage, Riverton Parke, and South Putnam. Southmont last won a sectional title in 2014. Crawfordsville and North Montgomery will play in a Class 3A sectional with Danville, Frankfort, Greencastle, Monrovia, and Tri-West. North Montgomery last won a sectional in 2007, and has never won a Class 3A sectional crown, while Crawfordsville’s only sectional title came in 2009. In boys basketball Fountain Central will play in a Class 2A sectional with Carroll (Flora), Clinton Prairie, Rossville, Seeger, and Western Boone. Fountain Central last won a sectional in 2015. Southmont will play in a Class 2A sectional with Parke Heritage, Riverton Parke, Cloverdale, North Putnam, Cascade, and South Putnam. Southmont won its only boys basketball sectional title in 1994. Crawfordsville and North Montgomery will play in a Class 3A sectional with Danville, Frankfort, Greencastle, Monrovia, and Tri-West. Crawfordsville last won a sectional title in 2014, while North Montgomery last won one in 2009.
