Southmont’s season came to an end with a 68-65 overtime loss to Lebanon in the IHSAA sectional semifinal at Lebanon High School on Friday.
Ty Williams scored at the buzzer with a shot next to the basket to tie the game at 58 and force overtime, and Cam Chadd and Williams both made layups to put the Mounties ahead by four before the Tigers went on a 6-0 run to take the lead for good.
The Mounties, who finish the season 12-10, went on a 13-2 run in the third quarter and took a 38-30 lead after Patrick Scheidler’s 3-pointer with 3:27 left in the period.
Chadd’s 3 with 1:05 remaining in the third gave Southmont a 45-33 lead before Lebanon went on a 17-3 run in the fourth to regain the lead again.
Chadd finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds, and Williams added 15 points for the Mounties. Justin Howard had 11 points and Patrick Scheidler scored 10 points with six rebounds.
Lebanon’s Carson Burtron and Kye Zimmerman each scored 11 points for the Tigers.
