NEW MARKET — The scoring woes continue for the Southmont girls basketball team as the Mounties fell to Monrovia 38-26 on Saturday.
In four of the last six games the Mounties have failed to score more than 32 points and in five of the six games they have not scored more than 40. All five of those games have resulted in losses as the Mounties fell to 4-8 after the losing Saturday.
Lilly Ward, who led the Mounties with 10 points on the night, put the Mounties up 6-5 with 3:23 to play in the first and the home team was off to a good start. Little did the Mounties k ow that would be the last points it would put on the scoreboard until Avery Hess scored on a steal and a layup with 5:24 to play in the third quarter.
