
ROACHDALE — Six free throws in the last minute saved a North Montgomery 30-26 win over North Putnam Monday.
The Chargers were 8-of-10 from the line in the fourth quarter as they move to 10-11 with one game left before sectionals next week.
Leading 24-21 with a minute remaining, Becca Adams stepped in front of a pass. With 55.1 seconds to go, Caroline McClaskey went to the line and made two on the one-and-one opportunity.
McClaskey finished with 11 points to lead the Chargers, followed by Adams with eight. The visitors were 9-of-29 from the field, missed two 3-pointers, but were 12-of-16 from the line. They won the rebound battle 36-32. Kelsey Sabens , who also had two big fourth quarter steals, led North with 10 rebounds, while McClaskey added nine.
The Chargers have a trip to Western Boone Friday before taking on Frankfort next Tuesday in the first game of the Lebanon sectional.
