Slow Start Sends Wabash To Loss at Wooster

The Wabash basketball team was unable to overcome an early deficit in its 95-54 loss Saturday afternoon to the College of Wooster. The Scots 11-6, 8-2 NCAC) took a 15-0 lead before Ronald Ryan connected on a three-point try to put Wabash on the scoreboard. The Little Giants drew to within ten points twice over the next four minutes with a basket from Logan White and a three-pointer from Colten Garland. Wabash got no closer as Wooster extended its lead to 20 at halftime prior to scoring the first three basket of the second half on the way to a 45-24 advantage over the final 20 minutes of the game. The hot shooting by the Little Giants (8-9, 4-6 NCAC) from Wednesday night's home win over DePauw turned ice cold. After shooting 59 percent from the field and going 13-for-20 from three-point range Wednesday, Wabash managed to make only 5-of-16 shots (31.3 percent) from long range and 17-of-56 (30 percent) from the field overall. Wooster hit 36-of-69 shots (46.4 percent) from the field and finished 13-of-34 from three-point range (38.2 percent). Ryan, Garland, and Alex Eberhard each scored nine point to pace Wabash on offense. Four Wooster players finished in double figures in scoring, led by the 20-point effort of Reece Dupler. The Little Giants return home to play Ohio Wesleyan Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Chadwick Court.
