Athenians top Mustangs, 64-48

Crawfordsville turned it on in the third quarter, made key stops and put together a run to pull away in a 64-48 victory over Fountain Central on Friday.

The Athenians made it nearly impossible for the Mustangs to get things going during the first part of the third quarter during a 13-3 spurt to take an 18-point lead.

James Gineris scored 15 points on 7-of-8 shooting and Cameron Harris made three 3-pointers and had 13 points to help the Athenians bounce back following a 102-52 loss to Class 4A No. 8 ranked McCutcheon on Tuesday and to pick up a fifth win in six games.

Crawfordsville will host rival Southmont at 8 p.m. Saturday. Fountain Central will travel to South Vermillion in Wabash River Conference play at 7:30 p.m.
