The Crawfordsville girls basketball team clamped down on defense right from the start and the Athenians controlled North Putnam in a 47-30 victory on Tuesday.
That happened on more than one occasion in the 32 turnovers North Putnam committed, including turnovers on seven straight possessions in the first quarter when Addie Laskowski made a 3-pointer and then a lay-up to put the Athenians ahead for good.
The sophomore led Crawfordsville with 13 points and seven rebounds, Fabiola Castro had nine points while Lauren Kellerman and Zoe Walbert each scored seven points.
The Athenians host Tri-West to open Sagamore Conference play on Friday and they host Turkey Run next Tuesday before the Sugar Creek Classic at Southmont.
