MICHIGANTOWN — Southmont did not take long to pick up their first win of the season.

One night after a final second loss to Sagamore Conference rival Tri-West, the Mounties were back in action — this time on the road at Clinton Central. The Mounties did not leave empty-handed, coming home with a 59-38 win on Saturday.
"We started the game out fast and aggressive to take a 23-3 lead at the end of the first quarter and continued the effort for all 4 quarters," first-year Mounties head coach Dustin Oakley said. "Great team effort and all players contributed to the win."
Kasey Burton had her second double-double in as many days with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Marlowe McVay came off the bench and had 12 points and 9 rebounds.
Southmont (1-1) travels to North Vermillion (1-0) on Tuesday. The Falcons opened the season Friday with a 30-25 win over North Putnam.
