I looked across The McNally Gymnasium at Greencastle High School on Saturday night just before tip-off of the sectional final between North Montgomery and Danville and had to look no farther than the first couple of rows to get my answer on the difference of this year’s Charger basketball team from the previous 10.
There sat AJ Sutherlin, Lucas Galloway, Alex Hall, Brice Murphy, and Clay Cummings — all former Chargers — supporting the 2020 team play for a sectional title.
GREENCASTLE — North Montgomery left it all on the floor Saturday night in the Class 3A Sectional No. 25 final against Danville.
The Warriors pulled away for a 59-47 win to secure their third sectional title in four years, but not before a gutsy performance from the Chargers in attempt to knock off the No. 7 ranked team in the state.
“Saw a bunch of guys with heart,” Charger first-year coach Chad Arnold said. “The way a Charger should play. That’s what we want, and I knew
GREENCASTLE — Danville never trailed in an 84-62 win over Crawfordsville on Friday night in the IHSAA Class 3A Greencastle Sectional semifinal.
The Warriors jumped out to a 12-0 lead, and despite a comeback effort led by Crawfordsville’s Ty Lynas to get the Athenians back in the game, Danville put its foot back on the gas until the final horn.
Trailing 12-0, Lynas scored seven points on a 10-6 Athenian run midway through the first quarter. Danville led 22-15 at the end of
GREENCASTLE – North Montgomery defeated Frankfort 49-46 Friday in their opening game of the Class 3A IHSAA Sectional at Greencastle. The Chargers dodged two last-second 3-point attempts by the Hot Dogs to advance to the tournament championship, something North Montgomery has not played in since 2009.
The Chargers led at halftime 28-15, but the Hot Dogs stormed back and actually only trailed by one point with 3:06 in the game.
But, in the end, the Chargers were able to sur
Top-three finishes by the Wabash College indoor track and field, basketball, and swimming and diving teams extended the Little Giants' lead in the 2019-2020 North Coast Athletic Conference Men's All-Sports Standings through the winter conference championships.

Southmont grad Kaleb Swick fires up a shot in a game earlier this season for Adrian College. Southmont grad Kaleb Swick and the Adrian Men’s basketball team is headed where they’ve never been before — the Division III National Tournament.
The 17-11 Bulldogs defeated Hope 83-73, Calvin 80-72, and Trine 80-72 to win the MIAA Conference Championship last weekend and earn the conference’s automatic bid into the tourney.
“This is awesome,” Swick said. “At Southmont I never had

GREENCASTLE — Much like in their regular season meeting, Crawfordsville jumped out to a double-digit lead over Tri-West in Wednesday night’s Class 3A Sectional quarterfinal at Greencastle. This time though the Bruins fought back, but the Athenians held a lead from the 5:28 mark in the first quarter on, clinging to an 81-80 victory to advance to Friday’s second semifinal against Danville.
Crawfordsville led 22-11 after a quarter, and 38-29 at the half, but Tri-West didn’t ba
